- “I don’t need
to make a tee time? How is that possible?”
For over 40 years, players at the Palm Beach Golf Course have enjoyed
the convenience of never having to make a tee time. Players start
in the order of their arrival. (top)
- “First Come First Serve? Doesn’t
that mean I might have to wait a long time to get out on the course?”
No. During peak periods; mornings and in the winter months when most
people like to play here, the most you will ever have to wait is usually
less than one hour. Most golfers tee off within 20 minutes of their
arrival. (top)
- “That’s unbelievable! No advance
tee times and no wait?”
Believe it. Members of the most exclusive private clubs in the nation,
like Trump International right here in Palm Beach County, Augusta
National, Shinnecock, Cypress Point and Pine Valley have always enjoyed
this privilege. We don’t believe our guests should be treated
any differently.
“But those are private clubs and probably don’t
have a lot of members. The Palm Beach Golf Club is open to everyone
isn’t it?”
Yes, everyone is welcome at the Par3, every day, all day long, 365
days a year.(top)
- “That is amazing! So what’s
your secret? How do you do it?”
The only amazing thing to us is why more golf courses don’t
eliminate that tired aggravating old system of making you call, and
call, and call again only to be told that you can’t play when
you want to. We do things differently from the moment you arrive.
After you check in at the counter, you’ll be directed to the
Starter at the first tee. He’ll greet you warmly and remember
your name when you visit us again. He makes sure you have a score
card, pencil and everything else you need to get started. He may invite
you to putt a little on the practice green, or perhaps warm up your
swing with a small bucket of balls on the driving range only steps
away from the first tee. You may prefer to relax for a bit on the
clubhouse patio in one of our super comfy rocking chairs or perhaps
you noticed something in the pro shop that would be a perfect gift
for yourself or someone back home. We’ll hold your purchase
for you while you play and if you like, we’ll even gift wrap
it for free. Before you know it, you’ll be called to the First
Tee and off you go.(top)
- “I’m not real confident about
playing with strangers. Can I go out as a single or just with my partner?”
Of course you can. Afternoons are a great time to go solo. Players
are grouped into foursomes only during peak periods. (top)
- “Do I have to rent a riding cart?”
No. Absolutely not! This course was designed to encourage the tradition
of walking. We have pull carts available if you wish, or you may carry
your bag. Of course, you may choose to ride in one of our clean, comfortable
riding carts.(top)
- “What if I didn’t bring my clubs
with me?”
No problem. We have top quality clubs available for men, women and
children in right and left handed sets in discreet black or navy golf
bags…no bright orange vinyl bags that broadcast RENTAL on the
side.(top)
- “Can my partner and I share a set?”
Each golfer needs their own set of clubs with a putter and a golf
bag. We’ve found over the years that sharing clubs causes backups
and delays on the course.(top)
- “This is a Par3 course, right? Why
do I need a full set of clubs?”
The distance on the course is 2450 yards. Holes range from 100 to
221 yards, and water comes into play on 12 holes. (top)
- “How long does it take to play a
round?”
During peak times, you’ll spend from 2 ½ to 3 hours to
complete your round of 18 holes. Courteous rangers are located at
key positions on the course to maintain the most pleasurable pace
of play for everyone.(top)
- “I’m a
real beginner. Is that OK?”
The Palm Beach Golf Course is proud to announce that we have received
national certification as a “Beginner Friendly” Golf Course.
The Starter will offer you tips on how to keep up with the group in
front of you. Everyone is a beginner sometime.(top)
- “What about a dress code?"
In keeping with the heritage and traditions of golf, we encourage
men to wear collared shirts, but T-shirts with sleeves are equally
acceptable. Ladies may wear sleeveless shirts but we discourage very
short shorts. All golfers are asked not to wear metal spikes on the
course, but sneakers are allowed.(top)
- “Do you offer wheelchair accessibility?”
Yes. The entire facility, golf course, driving range, pro shop, patio
and putting green are easily accessible to everyone.(top)
- “Tell me about the driving range.
I may just want to practice.”
The driving range is open every day at 7 o’clock. The range
closes at 1 hour before dark to allow us time to retrieve the balls,
clean them and prepare fresh buckets for the next morning. New, full-flight
range balls are rotated every four months. Large and small buckets
of clean, top quality balls are neatly arranged in the pro shop for
your convenience. The range has six elevated targets and the hitting
area is rotated every day so you’ll always start off with a
grassy, divot-free spot. A newly installed drainage system clears
rainwater from the range almost immediately. Loaner clubs are available
in the pro shop.(top)
-
“An
ocean front golf course in Palm Beach with this kind of service?
Can I afford your rates?”
Yes Yes Yes and Yes.
Yes, we are located directly on the Atlantic Ocean. Yes, we are
located right in the heart of the beautiful Town of Palm Beach,
moments away from world famous Worth Avenue and fabulous four star
resorts like the Breakers and the Ritz Carlton. Yes, we are committed
to the very best in guest service to every guest, every day. And
yes, we offer modest rates that are most affordable. (top)
-
“Do
you ever offer discounts on green fees?”
Yes we do. If you prefer to play golf in the afternoon, we can
offer a Twilight Rate. The discount varies according to season,
but generally speaking the Twilight Rate offers a 15 - 20% discount.
(top)
- “What time do Twilight Rates go into
effect?”
In the summer months, twilight begins at 5:00 pm. When the time changes
in October, twilight begins at 2:00 pm.(top)
- “What about Multi-Play Tickets?"
Multi play tickets are very popular with many of our guests. We offer
12 play tickets for golfers who wish to play at anytime during the
day as well as those who prefer to play in the afternoon. You may
purchase a 12 Play Ticket, or a Twilight 12 Play Ticket anytime of
the yea. Tickets purchased from May thru October are good for play
during those months only. Tickets purchased in November and from December
thru April are honored year round, although it’s more economical
to reserve November and December through April tickets for play only
during those months.(top)
- “Huh?”
Sorry. Let me give you an example. A 12 Play Ticket for May thru October
costs $130. Daily Green Fees for that time cost $13, so you receive
two extra rounds of golf when you buy a 12 Play Ticket. Your average
fee for each of the 12 rounds is reduced to $10.83. In November, the
price of a Daily Green Fee goes up to $20. With a November 12 Play
Ticket ($200), your cost per round is reduced to $16.67. From December
through April, Daily Green Fees are $22. With a 12 Play Ticket ($220),
your cost per round is reduced to $18.33. If you plan to play at least
12 times during any of these time frames, a 12 Play Ticket is a great
way to save money. Remember too that you may share a 12 Play Ticket
with anyone you like. If you live in the area year round, this is
an outstanding way to play often and save money. Couples and families
on holiday here in South Florida often share a 12 Play Ticket. Groups
and leagues also find this to be an attractive offer. (top)
- “What if I buy a 12 Play Ticket
and I don’t use it all? Can I get a refund for the remaining
rounds?”
Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds on unused portions of 12 Play
or Twilight 12 Play Tickets. However, we do frequently offer discounts
throughout the year with special coupons in the Palm Beach Post newspaper
and now of course online. Check golfontheocean.com for weekly
specials. (top)
- “Do you offer memberships?”
As a “non-private” golf course, we do not have “members”,
so naturally there are never assessments or other charges passed along
to our guests as there are at private clubs. We do offer Annual Permits
which allow golfers to play as many times as they wish, at whatever
time they wish, throughout the year. A Single Annual Permit is $950.
If you play twice a week, your cost per round is $9.13. That is 30%
less than the lowest rate we offer in the Summer and 58% less than
our December through April daily rate. If you play more than twice
a week, your savings increase substantially. Couples have the option
of buying a Double Annual Permit for $1350. This option really reduces
the cost per round and you are free to play together or not as you
prefer. (top)
- “Are riding carts and pull carts included in the
Annual Permits?
We never assume how you wish to enjoy the game of golf. With an Annual
Permit you may walk and carry your bag, or use a pull cart or ride
whenever you choose. Pull Carts and Riding Carts fees are extra. Doing
it this way allows us to keep the cost of an Annual Permit very low
and allows you the freedom to walk or ride at your discretion.(top)
- “What about other discounts?”
Residents of the Town of Palm Beach are entitled to an extra discount
for Annual Permits. Proof of residency and some minor restrictions
apply. (top)
- “How about senior citizen discounts?”
Instead of offering different rates to different groups, we have chosen
to offer the lowest possible rate to everyone. We do offer a junior
rate for young golfers up to 16 years old when they are accompanied
by an adult. (top)
- “What is a Maintenance and Improvement
fee?”
A small fee ($1.00) is collected from every golfer for every round.
If you’ll notice on the Schedule of Rates, a Maintenance and
Improvement fee has already been included in the daily fees. We do
not include the M&I fee in the cost of 12 Play Tickets, Twilight
12 Play Tickets or in the Annual Permits.(top)
- “What are the Maintenance and Improvement
fees used for?”
As the name suggests, this money is used to fund certain amenities
and beautification projects. Most recently we added an ice machine
to the clubhouse for our guests. Other projects include the addition
of the beautiful teak benches on the driving range and new cushioned
Adirondack style rockers to the patio. Future projects include ceiling
fans for the patio, more teak benches around the course, and an ambitious
project to transform the 17th hole with banks and bowers of flowers.
Ideas from our guests for future projects are always welcome.(top)
